چکیده

A sequence X = {xi}i=1 over an alphabet containing t symbols is t-universal if every permutation of those symbols is contained as a subsequence. Kleitman and Kwiatkowski showed that the minimum length of a t-universal sequence is (1−o(1))t2. In this note we address a related Ramsey-type problem. We say that an r-coloring χ of the sequence X is canonical if χ(xi) = χ(xj) whenever xi = xj . We prove that for any fixed t the length of the shortest sequence over an alphabet of size t, which has the property that every r-coloring of its entries contains a t-universal and canonically colored subsequence, is at most crb t 2 c. This is the best possible up to a multiplicative constant c independent of r.

Note on regular and coregular sequences

Let R be a commutative Noetherian ring and let M be a nitely generated R-module. If I is an ideal of R generated by M-regular sequence, then we study the vanishing of the rst Tor functors. Moreover, for Artinian modules and coregular sequences we examine the vanishing of the rst Ext functors.

Color Matching of Blends Prepared From Black and White Fibers by Neural Networks (TECHNICAL NOTE)

The color of the blends of pre-colored fibers depends on the ratio of each fiber in the blends. Some theories have been introduced for color matching of blends of pre-colored fibers. Most however, are restricted in scope and accuracy. Kubelka and Munk presented the most applicable theory, which is still used in industry. In this work, the classical Kubelka-Munk method for color prediction of a ...

A Further Note on Runs in Independent Sequences

Given a sequence of letters generated independently from a finite alphabet, we consider the case when more than one, but not all, letters are generated with the highest probability. The length of the longest run of any of these letters is shown to be one greater than the length of the longest run in a particular state of an associated Markov chain. Using results of Foulser and Karlin (19...

Plastination of Upper And Lower Limbs with Injection of Colored Polymer into the Arteries

Purpose: Plastination is a unique technique of tissue preservation developed by Dr Gunther von hagnes in Hidelberg, Germany in 1978. In this process water and lipids are replaced by curable polymers (silicon, polyester, epoxy) which are subsequently hardened, resulting in dry, odorless and durable specimens. The aim of this study was to prepare plastinated specimen of upper and lower limbs by i...
